Pond for migrant birds

I noticed some starlings on an electric wire this evening. It is said that they prefer winter in a warm climate, so I wonder that they came from colder districts even in the same country.

I had a sudden notion to go to a pond for migrant birds before very long.

The weather report said it was going to be cloudy today, but luckily it is fine.

Elementary school kids are taking their field trip to this place.
This pond is surrounded by a path and many trees.

Many foliage have not yet turned yellow nor red, but some started to change their colour.

This is the pond that I posted before (here), which is called Koya(昆陽)pond in Itami city.

In fact the pond, that was formed more than 1,200 years ago, have been a famous place sung in Waka(old tanka poem), as a place for maple leaves being blown from a mountain in Minou city.

Minou city is next to Itami city, but how they could imagine the maple leaves travelled more than 10km?
I'm amazed by the imagination of ancient people.

This year I came here three month earlier than I did at the previous time.

I see fewer sort of ducks, fewer number of cormorants, and no gulls.

These three swans,

moved onto the bank one after another,

and they got in a line.

What got down from heaven

fluttering its wings

is a mosaic dove in a wall,

and I came back to life

being astonished

Maybe I almost fell asleep on a bench.

Phoenix like cloud is floating across a blue autumn sky.

空の青さと広さと白い雲のおりなす造形に心が奪われます。白鳥は家族なんでしょうか それとも友達?

There is something almost magical about those two islands. They look as if they have been designed, and are not natural, yet they also suggest nature.

Haricot--I love the picture of the starlings on a wire. What a wonderful place the pond is. The tanka is so appropriate. I am always impressed with the way you weave poetry into your thoughts and words. Very inspirational!

Salut Haricot,

Have a beautiful day.

Koya pond must be a birds’ paradise and people’s oasis as well. The three swans in a row are so charming and look as if starting to dance Swan Lake. It must have been so warm and restful under the blue sky with fluffy clouds. Thanks for the introduction of another interesting poem.

I loved the image of the phoenix cloud.
The swans were astonishing in their orderliness. It is as if everything is waiting for the season to change.

I drove along a road today admiring the autumn foliage of the hedgerow. It seemed that alongside every yellow-leaved bush, there was one with red leaves. I've visited from Macy, you have a lovely blog.

Thank you very much.
This pond was made for irrigation.
It's so long time ago that the pond looks quite natural nowadays.

I also had the same idea that the swans wanted to show their ballet.
A big swan that looked like a prima donna was there. Maybe she was their mather?

Thank you for visiting my blog.
This year autumn seems to come slowly, or it would be very cold suddenly.
I was also astonished by the swans.
