on a fine day in spring

The weather is very fickle in this season, but it has been warm and fine these days. In my garden Japanese Andromeda bloomed and began to fade away.

And I found the wild violet this morning by the shrub of the Japanese Andromeda.

It was really fine day last Thursday.

My husband went out for viewing cherry blossoms with his friends.
They are always searching for some reason and occasion for drinking and eating.

Cherry blossoms near my house were in full bloom last week.
The day was too fine to just stay at home doing some more laundry or cleaning the floor.

I could not resist my impulse to go out in the sunshine ,so I took a train bound  for Kyoto shortly after, remembering that I happened to see a magical picture of weeping cherry blossoms along Kamogawa river in Kyoto.

The colour of the blossoms were pink-red and each flower looked a little bigger than that of common cherry flower called Somei-yoshino which are seen in the above picture.
On earth how many sort of cherry blossoms are there. I know the names of only a few.

The blossoms came into sight just like the picture I saw, hanging the branches on a basket- like arch and bathing spring brilliant sunlight. This district is called Nakaragi(半木).

There were fewer people than I expected, but all of them look up at the ceiling decorated with cherry blossoms when they go through the arch.

Some are pushing their baby cars and some are doing the same for wheelchairs, and every one looks happy.

It was relaxing time, and I thought as if I could take a long long walk along the river.

But now it was time to return, for I did not leave any message for my husband because I left home impulsively.

sha-ri, sha-ri, sha-ri,,,

bits of glass were falling

inside of the recycling plant

and by the gate

cherry blossoms are fully in bloom

I composed this tanka last spring, walking along a river which was closer to my residence.

I was caught by a strange sensation when I heard such a sound like glass breaking and were littering somewhere in the factory and I saw some cherry blossoms as they were reborn in front of the recycling plant.

Cherry blossoms make me feel some mysterious power.

It is supposed that they were at their peak last weekend.

I'm glad you took the chance to go out and see beautiful things. Cleaning the floor can always wait, but now you have the beautiful memories. I try always to remember that chores can wait and good times are to be enjoyed.

Is that along the Nakaragi-no-michi? I haven't been to Kyoto for more than a year. I really (really!) must go for another visit.

Thanks for running away from your husband ^^ to bring us such beautiful photos!

Haricot,

I also have andromeda, but mine don't have the pink tips. Your sense of humor shows in your comment about your husband! I am so glad you too the trip though I wish you could have stayed longer. The arches covered with cherry blossoms and the river walk are beautiful.

I love your tanka! I can hear the falling glass and see the cherry blossoms.

xo,

Jen

This post made me smile! Glad to hear that you ran away from your husband and went to Kyoto!! The sakura in Kyokyo must be one of the best in Japan! I wish I would have been there this spring. I have many friends who live in Kyoto, so your lovely photos remind me of them. The weeping cherry blossoms are so beautiful!
In your tanka-poem, I love "sha-ri, sha-ri". The image and sound of the glass pieces conjure up an image of sakura blossoms fluttering down! Briiliant tanka, indeed!

Cherry blossoms are indeed great excuse to have a party. We’ve had many many springs, but every spring brings fresh sensation. I like it when a large weeping cherry tree looks like a pink parasol. I love sakura trees lining up the river but now I’ve realized the sakura close to the factory would bring more pleasure to me. I sometimes enjoy solitary excursion leaving my husband behind. I think absence or silence of me would make him refreshed even if we are not fighting, and vice versa. (~0~)/

have you been Kyoto time to time, I suppose. Kyoto is much bigger city than Nara, and too many place to see. It's one of them,as you wrote,Nakaragi-no-michi.

Your andromeda is white? White ones are common here and I like them, too. I apreciate your kind comment about my tanka, as well.

sapphire
Oh, thank you, sapphire, for your kind comment on my phrases.
You came from Kansai, right? So it makes you remember many memories with your friends I think.
Kyoto has vast roads and landscapes, doesn't it?

cosmos

Thank you for your interesting comment. You are much more active than I, I think. I'd like to visit many unknown places for me.

What a good idea you had to slip out for a walk. I love the beautiful cherry blossoms you saw. We live in a very old apple orchard and there is one tree I have found that has a darker reddish-pink bud and a pink blossom when all the others are white. I like this tree very much even though it doesn't give good apples any more.

Thank you for the comment. I'm encouraged a lot.

Thank you for your visit. It makes me very happy.

I suppose the apple blossoms bloom as a symbole of your rejion and country. Reddish-pink flowers among white ones must be attractive. Thank you for your comment.

sarah
